Fun in wine country...
We just finished our 3rd Sales Incentive Trip for the top Activate! account executives. I guess it’s our version of the old President’s Club, but much more than just a trip. Built into our culture is the commitment to reward excellence and those who consistently perform at a very high level. Dave Claunch , our EVP of Sales, sets the quotas and Fred Parker, our President & CEO, secretly plans the trip for our account executives. AEs who meet or exceed their quotas, and those who gross over $500K annually, qualify. Activate! pays for the trip, usually to a 5 Diamond Resort. This year, 8 account executives qualified and 6 AEs, along with their wives, actually made the trip to the West Coast.
After we landed in San Fran, we traveled to Sonoma where we had a private vineyard tour and wine tasting at Gundlach Bundschu vineyards. GB is one of oldest family owned wineries in Sonoma dating back to the 1850s. Pictured here from left to right are Scott & Nancy Sunitsch, Dave & Karen Claunch, Fred & Amy Parker, April & Billy Booe, Suzi Miller, Jen & Greg Greemon, and Scott Miller. John & Cathy Lowe joined us shorty thereafter.
After some much needed R&R, and a late breakfast, we arrived at J Vineyards. Located right next to Rodney, Strong, J Vineyards is woman-owned and specializes in light whites, pinot noirs and sparkling wines.
Then it was off to Silver Oak winery in Alexander County – one of my personal favorites! We sampled the 2007 Cabs from both their Alexander and Napa locations. We also enjoyed their 2001 Award Winning Cabernet Sauvignon of which there are only 8 cases left. Fred Parker purchased 4 bottles of the 2001 Cab which we enjoyed outside in the Silver Oak Courtyard. Then it was back to the hotel for a gourmet dinner and more R&R. By now you see we like to eat, sleep, and have fun!
The next day was a tough one. Our only requirement was for everyone to meet at the Hotel Vitale in San Fran by 6:30 pm. Fred lined up dinner at Garibaldi's where we enjoyed another fabulous dinner. On Saturday, we enjoyed a leisurely day in the city and the best weather San Fran has seen in decades.
Many of us wandered through the market, toured the city and simply took in the sites. It was a great day to be outside and people watch. We concluded the day with dinner at Ozumo's which is one of the best sushi restaurants in San Fran!
On Sunday, we departed for home holding a suitcase full of memories and looking forward to next year's trip!
